FAQWhat is O2 Simulator?
o2 simulator is a device that can be used to avoid Check Engine when catalytic converter is removed in OBDII cars. It simulates the secondary oxygen sensor signal and makes ECU 'think' that converter is present and is in working condition. This prevents ECU to set the error code and light up Check Engine indicator. What is OBDII? OBD stands for On-Board-Diagnostic. All cars and light trucks built and sold in the United States after January 1, 1996 are required to be OBD II equipped. In general, this means all 1996 model year cars and light trucks are compliant, even if built in late 1995. You can find more information on www.obdii.com Will o2 simulator work for my car? Yes. Our o2 simulator should work with all OBDII compliant cars Import or Domestic.Though in some rare cases o2 simulator might not work. We offer refund if you are not satisfied with the product for any reason during 30 day period. Here is list of cars o2 simulator will NOT work: list What cars your simulator is currently installed on? List of cars o2 simulator is installed on : list My car o2 sensor have 4 wires, do i need to buy o2 sim with 4 wires? O2sim is not a replacement for o2 sensor - it is o2 sensor signal simulator. O2 sensor Signal wire is cut and connected to O2 simulator so the PCM will receive simulated Signal. O2sim also needs Ground and Power in order to function and it gets it from the o2 sensor wires. So o2sim have only three wire: Signal, Ground and Power. Dual output o2sims have two Signal wires for dual exhaust application. Do I need to buy two units for dual exhaust? No. Most shops would sell you two simulators for dual exhaust application when you really only need one. The o2 simulator signal can be split between two sensors. Dual o2 simulators have 4 wires: Ground, Power (+12V), Signal, Signal. Both Signal wires are connected to the same source inside the module. What is the difference between Single and Dual output o2 simulator? Practically none. Dual output o2sim has two Signal wires. Signal wires are shorted inside the unit. What is the difference between your simulators and other simulators on the market? We are not a reseller. The simulators are designed and build by us. We guarantee the simulators functionality with 30 days money back guarantee. The simulators are based on microcontroller which makes them very accurate and reliable. Is simulator just a resistor? No. Our simulators are based on affordable microcontroller which creates stable and accurate signal. There are many sites claiming that a resistor connected to the o2 sensor wires will do the same trick. That is not true, though it works on some vehicles. How many simulators are being returned for repair? Current return rate is less than 1%. How long it takes to ship the item? Items are shipped in less then 24 hours after receiving payment. Can the secondary o2 sensor be totally disconnected? In some cases yes. The OBDII car oxygen sensor has four wires and there are two independent circuits inside o2 sensor: Sensor Heater and Actual o2 Sensor. Two wires are used for sensor heater and two for actual sensor element. Most car ECUs monitor heater circuit and will trigger error code when oxygen sensor heater circuit is disconnected. You can check the car wiring diagram to determine if o2 sensor can be totally disconnected. If the sensor heater is connected to ground and supplied +12V from the ignition circuit than sensor can be totally be replaced with o2 simulator. O2 sensor can be totally removed on all GM cars, Dodge trucks and Jeeps. All import cars monitor heater circuit and o2 sensor can not be removed. Can o2 sensor heater circuit be also simulated? Yes. Generally o2 sensor heater circuit can be simulated with 20Omh 20watt resistor. Available on our site. How easy is to install o2 simulator? Very easy. You only need to connect three (four) o2 simulator wires to existing o2 sensor. See installation page. Does o2simulator come with OEM plug? No. And here is why. Normal heater o2 sensor contains two independent circuits: heater and o2 sensor. o2simulator only replacing o2sensor but not the heater. Heater can be simulated with 20 Watt 20 Ohm resistor but it becomes hot during operation and can not be combined with o2simulator in one packages. Where o2 simulator is connected? o2 simulator is connected to existing o2 sensor wires. How can I tell the simulator is working? o2 simulator status LED will blink when ignition is in ON position or when 9-12V is applied to the simulator. The o2 simulator output can be measured with multimeter. My o2 simulator does not have LED, why? New design o2 simulators have internal LED. Just connect Black Red o2 simulator wires to +9 or +12V power source and you will see internal led flash with 3-5sec cycle. I bought simulator but still getting Check Engine light? First contact us and we will try our best to resolve the situation. You are not the first one and in most cases installation check resolves the problem. If you would like a refund we will gladly refund your purchase no questions ask. When contacting support please provide following information for prompt response: car year/make/model , problem description, how long it take to get CEL after reseting PCM and what color are the o2sensor wires and how o2 sim is connected to it. Where to find OBDII info? What can I check to verify proper o2 simulator installation? First, make sure o2sim gets power by checking status LED with car running. LED should blink with 3-5 sec cycle. Second, check that the o2 sensor signal wire is cut and o2sim signal wire connected to cut wire the end goes to the socket and not to the o2 sensor. Check your car wiring diagram to make sure you properly located o2 sensor Signal wire. My o2 sensor wires are Black-Grey-White-White, which one is Signal, Ground and +12V? Signal-Black, Ground-Grey, +12-one of the White wires. Do not short White wires, How to find +12 , Ground and Signal wires with multimeter? See Installation page. |
